THE WORKERS' PARTY OF IRELAND

Reject Labour fakers says Workers' Party President

The loyalty of these Labour TD's starts and ends with the vast salaries, unjustifiable expenses and extremely generous allowances for working in Dáil committees. They are what James Connolly recognised in his time as, ‘Labour fakers'

James Connolly
Connolly - knew how to recognise a Labour faker

“Crocodile tears from Labour TDs about the most recent cuts on the elderly Care programme convince nobody”, said Workers’ Party President Michael Finnegan. He continued, “When the government with Fine Gael was formed Labour TDs knew well that they were agreeing to implement savage cuts to workers living standards. They knew that every service the public rely on for a decent life such as health, education and social welfare would be gutted. In a few weeks’ time they will once again vote through the harshest budget ever. So where does these TDs loyalty lie?”

“It is crystal clear”, said Mr. Finnegan,  “that their loyalty lies with being re-elected and not with forming a genuine opposition seeking the public good. Their loyalty starts and ends with the vast salaries, unjustifiable expenses and extremely generous allowances for working in Dáil committees. They are what James Connolly recognised in his time as, ‘Labour fakers.”

Michael Finnegan concludes, “as someone who has worked as a trade union activist and full time official and believe in building a socialist society I call on those genuine Labour members to abandon the Labour ‘fakers,’ stand up for their policies as decided at national conference such as opposition to the sale of state assets and join with us in the Workers’ Party.”
