The Workers’ Party have condemned last night’s attack on a military barracks in Antrim which left two soldiers dead and a number of civilians serious injured.

Workers’ Party General Secretary John Lowry said the incident was a barbarous attack designed to fan the flames of sectarianism.  It was also totally anathema to every principle of republicanism, he said.

“Those responsible for this attack represent only a tiny minority who want to drag Northern Ireland back to sectarian warfare. They have nothing to offer people other than a return to bitterness, mourning and recrimination”, said Mr. Lowry.
