Waterford Workers' Party Councillor Davy Walsh comfortably retained his seat in Waterford City Councillor last night (Saturday) in the local elections while in Cork Ted Tynan was elected on the 5th count which puts the party back in Cork City Council after an absence of ten years.

Elsewhere the party is still fighting recounts for Joe Tobin in Waterford East and Jackie Connolly in Cork North Central.

The party narrowly lost out with Willie Moore in Waterford South and party president Mick Finnegan in Lucan (South Dublin Co. Council).

We will present a more detailed account and analysis of the overall election over the next day or two.
