The unveiling of the memorial, at 3.00pm on Saturday 15th October in Palmerstown Cemetery, was performed by Comrade Francie Donnelly, from South Derry, a lifelong friend of Tomás. The General Secretary of The Workers' Party,  Comrade John Lowry, introduced Francie Donnelly.

This ceremony was followed, at 6.00pm, by a seminar in the West County Hotel, Chaplelizod. The seminar on the Life and Legacy of Tomás Mac Giolla was chaired by Comrade Gerry Grainger, chairman International Committee, the Workers Party.
 
As part of the seminar comrade Sean Garland announced that there will be an official launch of the Tomás Mac Giolla International Centre for Citizenship, Solidarity, Peace and Democracy later in the year.
 
The seminar concluded at 7:30pm approximately and was followed by a social evening.
